VACDRILL for solar installers

Every penetration is a future leak unless it is right first time.

The job

Solar mounting means large arrays of identical fixings across a roof or facade, frequently on flat concrete decks or metal panels, where each penetration is a waterproofing risk.

Where the tool fits

Repeatability across an array is the entire quality problem, and machine-set depth with a fixed axis is how you get it.

On smooth membrane or metal deck, vacuum attachment is straightforward; on ballasted or gravel roofs it is not — the surface must be cleared and sound.

Working at height and edges

Roof edge protection, fall arrest and exclusion zones are unchanged by the tool.

Wind loading affects both the operator and any loose material; a tool anchored to the deck is not a substitute for securing yourself.

Substrate checks

Confirm deck construction before drilling — hitting a structural member, a service or a membrane layer you did not expect is expensive on a roof.
