The port
The VACDRILL includes a dust collection port that accepts an extractor. GRABO's phrasing is capture dust where it starts with the dust collection port. Because the tool is already sealed against the surface, it is unusually well placed to do this: the base forms most of a shroud around the hole before you add any extraction.
Why this is a regulatory matter, not a housekeeping one
Drilling concrete, brick, stone and tile releases respirable crystalline silica. Exposure limits are enforced in the US, the EU, the UK and Australia among others, and the standard control hierarchy puts engineering controls — capture at source — above respirators.

Practical extraction notes
- Use an extractor rated for fine construction dust with the appropriate filter class; a workshop vacuum will pass the finest and most harmful fraction straight through.
- Empty or change filters before they load up — a clogged extractor loses airflow, and airflow is what does the capturing.
- Dust control and vacuum anchoring reinforce each other: a cleaner surface seals better, which is why surface preparation pays twice.
Questions about this
Can I use a normal workshop vacuum?
No. General-purpose vacuums pass the respirable fraction straight through the filter and back into the room. Use an extractor rated for fine construction dust with the appropriate filter class.
Does extraction remove the need for a mask?
Not automatically. On-tool extraction is an engineering control and comes first in the hierarchy, but whether RPE is still required depends on the task, duration and your risk assessment.
