Setting drill depth accurately
Set once, then stop worrying about depth.
Work from the specification
Embedment comes from the anchor manufacturer's data for your base material and load. Do not estimate it from the fixing length.
Account for what is not structure
Render, screed, tile, plaster and coatings are not base material. If the anchor needs 70 mm of embedment into concrete and you have 15 mm of render, you need 85 mm of hole.
This is one of the most common anchor errors on finished buildings.
Set and verify
Set the target on the depth sensor, drill one hole, verify with a depth gauge, then run the pattern. Maximum depth is 145 mm.
Watch for breakthrough
In thin slabs and hollow units, over-drilling breaks through the far face. Confirm the thickness before setting depth.

Do finishes count toward embedment?
No. Render, screed, tile and plaster are not base material. Add their thickness on top of the required embedment when you set your depth.
