Design evolution of the VACDRILL

A numbered development project
Internally the tool ran as a numbered new-product project (project descriptions reference PM-SN49000-V1-001 and a prototyping parts list for sn49000). Engineering records include base plate and slide-rod drawings, rail cover specifications, 3D-printed and CNC prototype parts lists and bills of materials.
That is the ordinary signature of a hardware programme: geometry iterated in CAD, printed, machined, tested, revised.
From drill to system
The line has since broadened from a single self-anchoring drill into a family: the VACDRILL Press, the Wrangler powered-suction plus SDS combination, High Flow, a brushless variant and mounting bases such as the Bore Mount QC2.
Where it came from
GRABO's core competence is powered vacuum attachment — the company is best known for portable electric vacuum lifters. The drilling system is that competence turned around: instead of using vacuum to carry a load, it uses vacuum to anchor a machine so the machine can do work.

Is the VACDRILL a modified off-the-shelf drill?
The mechanism is the subject of granted patents describing a self-holding, self-driving drilling system, and internal records show a numbered development programme with prototype parts lists, technical drawings and bills of materials.
